No, my blog didn’t break — I’m doing CSS Naked Day! And I know I haven’t updated in forever, but I finally managed to upgrade to WordPress 2.5 today (which took longer than I thought … frickin’ incompatible plugins) and figured it’d be a good time to make at least one new post.
So yeah … here’s to XHTML and web standards and accessibility … and hopefully more posts from me in the near future!

Never thought I wrote anything of importance here, but I guess content theft doesn’t care about that. So imagine my surprise when I checked my WordPress dashboard a few minutes ago to find a trackback from a splog (spam blog) on my last UM post. The splog seems to be targeted towards the keyword “treadmill” and subsequently grabs content when it appears on other sites. At least they give credit to the original site? Ugh. At the moment I’m glad nofollow is automatically on in WordPress — don’t want to delete the trackback just yet so people can see everything in its original state ![]()
I have no idea why there are so many errors right now (though it is related to categories) — I didn’t do anything to my site in the last 24 hours, and yesterday everything was fine (I think)! Here’s hoping that A Small Orange Support can shed some light …
By the way, I do have a real post in the works. Now that school’s over (forever!) and work is temporarily on hold, I should have some time to get back into blogging!
Edit: It was apparently an “intermittent problem with MySQL.” Yay for awesomely fast support people!

Just an update on things. Nothing spectacular, but hey, I’m tired of my only posts being memes. This post’s title also has nothing to do with anything.
I’ve started looking for post-graduation jobs both here and in Myrtle Beach, and of course it seems opportunities are everywhere except the beach. I mean, yeah, I’ve found a couple, but only one was slightly promising … and they’re definitely not falling into my lap like the Northern Virginia/DC ones are *sigh* I hope it gets easier once I’m actually there.
Since I only renew my domain for 1 year at a time, it is again up for renewal at the end of December. As usual, I’m torn — should I change my domain name to something more professional (like something-related-to-my-name.com) or stay with what I’ve had for 8 years? I don’t want to lose all my visitors (not to mention creating broken links on however many hundreds of sites that list my URL), but I also don’t want prospective employers to be turned away by something a 15-year-old created for Hanson and for fun, who never dreamed that in 8 years she’d be pursuing a related career. I also don’t want to have 2 separate domains. So, what should I do? Stay with my few loyal readers and keep my credibility? Or start fresh and jump into the “real,” adult world with a legitimate portfolio (i.e. not on Coppermine), new blog layout, and maybe even ditch the whole fanlisting thing? Your thoughts please …
Come December, I should:
- Something else (explain with a comment). (43%, 3 Votes)
- Keep this domain and delete everything/start fresh. (29%, 2 Votes)
- Get rid of this domain and start fresh. (14%, 1 Votes)
- Keep this domain and not change anything. (14%, 1 Votes)
- I don’t care. (0%, 0 Votes)

So yesterday, out of the blue, I get an email from a freelance reporter asking for permission to use one of my photos from the DC Hanson concert (and for a fast reply since the article’s running in less than 12 hours). Needless to say, I say yes, and wake up to an awesome review — and my first reaction is hey check it out, there’s my name!
The real credit, however, should go to Mike, since I’m almost 100% sure he took it … I was originally gonna ask them to credit him, but then misunderstanding ensued and my name’s there and I feel slightly guilty, even though he says it’s no big deal. I mean, I don’t call myself a photographer in any way and he’s the one getting photo passes at the House of Blues. So yeah … meh.
In other news … concert reviews will come, but only after my site stops hating me, even though I did nothing to make it randomly break in the first place. Not to mention no one helping me on the WordPress support forums, and now the Enthusiast forum, and the people at A Small Orange either not knowing what the hell was wrong or making things worse and not telling me *sigh* If you’ve tried to visit in the past 24 hours and were greeted with a lovely error message, sorry — hopefully more won’t be on the way.
