Frightful.

Arrow Tuesday, January 30, 2007 @ 3:56 pm

It’s so cold outside. I don’t care if Yahoo says it’s 41 degrees, the wind chill makes it feel more like 21 and walking around campus for an hour while sniffling is not fun. And now it’s flurrying and I have to leave for my 4th class of the day in 10 minutes, which equals a round trip outside time of at least 20 minutes *sigh* Tuesdays are the bane of my existence … I hope I don’t wake up sick tomorrow.

Take a flying leap.

In the latest Hanson podcast, Ike went skydiving (tandem) and got a video and wore the little hat and it reminded me so much of when I went. Yay. And if Zac ever goes all 3 will have done “the craziest thing ever,” and that would just be cool. Wish I could go again.

And to completely change the subject, my new favorite music video is “Sorry” by Nick Black. It’s not for the squeamish, but if you like dark, emotional, vampiric stuff (with some Suicide Girls) you should be fine.

Blue July.

I’m not a big horoscope person, but add color to the mix and it’s a different story. According to Colorstrology, my birthday color is Aquatic (click to view) and means the following:

YOU have a great sense of humor and people love to laugh when you are near them. You have a unique way of seeing things. You are innovative and interesting and when confident, are extremely creative and resourceful. Try not to let doubt or conflicting emotions impede your productivity and growth. Your personal color enhances your appealing nature. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Aquatic protects you from debilitating emotions while allowing you to receive the good fortunes that await you.

The first part sounds mostly right, though I don’t think my sense of humor is that amazing or the “creative and resourceful while confident” aspect applies to everything.

Looking around my room, I don’t see many objects that are Aquatic-colored. There’s a fair amount of purple since that’s my favorite color next to black, but the only bluish things are my Nalgene water bottle, a couple art posters (like “If You Would Only Sing Along” by Jonathan Laib), and a winter-themed Puffs tissue box. I also tend to wear darker clothing … though my Christmas gift cards should fix that if I ever decide to tap the power of Pantone. And how exactly does one meditate their color?

Edit: Duh. I guess this site is as Aquatic as you can get. Go me!

Today is my 1-year workiversary with MAIC — the longest time I was employed before (with IKON/AOL) was only for a summer. Seems like it should be a big event, but it’s not and no one keeps track and/or cares … even though out of all the students, only 1 has been here longer than me, and 1 or 2 have been here the same amount … but oh well. Time for lunch.

WordPress 2.1.

Arrow Friday, January 26, 2007 @ 12:19 am

This post probably isn’t even necessary, but I haven’t updated in 2ish weeks so I figured I should write something. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard, WordPress 2.1 is out (1 week after 2.0.7). So yeah, go upgrade and all that good stuff … the download page has spiffy new buttons too.

And a new version is out 10 days after the previous. Woo. But it’s only 6 files, so get over it and upgrade

42 seconds of fame.

Not 100% sure about this, but I think my listener survey comment was mentioned in episode 16 of the WordPress Podcast! I’d taken the survey months ago and pretty much forgotten what I’d written, but as I finally got around to listening to the episode last night, one of the comments Charles was reading started to sound very familiar. Here’s an excerpt:

Charles: (10:40) Our next survey answer says, “That I get all my news in one place, plus reviews of plugins, etc. With so many WordPress tools out there it’s nice to have a way to know which ones stand out.”

David: (10:55) There really is so much gray noise out there when it comes to plugins and the new and interesting things that are coming out in the community. In episode 10 we commented on the fact that there’s dozens upon dozens of Digg tools now and it’s really hard to figure out which ones are the good ones and which ones are ones that you can kinda skip.

Charles: (11:22) Exactly.

Yeah
