Firefox 2.0 is out! Wonder why my auto-updater didn’t tell me … and be prepared for half your extensions/add-ons to stop working as well. At least I no longer have a need for Tab Mix Plus or Google Safe Browsing with the new version
See what else is new here.

On Saturday my dad and I went to the Toyota dealer to “just” test drive a car or two since my current car was 15 years old and costing more and more to keep safe/running.
Well, after 6 hours, that turned out to be the understatement of the year. My dad is not one to buy something like a new car on the spot, but after test driving the 2007 Matrix and 2006 Scion xA (at the sales guy’s suggestion), my mind was pretty much made up.
The Matrix may have had more room, but the Scion had everything else and was less expensive: anti-lock brakes, front/side air bags, cruise control (installed after 1000 miles), real seat belts, iPod port, and room for actual people in the back seat. The Scion also handled more like my old car (manual transmission), the shifter was in a better place, and I liked the shape and color (Flint Mica)
Who knew the 5-minute trip from my dad’s house to the dealer would be the last time I drove my Corolla? Behold:
So far it’s earned the seal of approval from 4 people — I keep wanting to drive it, even if I have nowhere to go!
On a completely different note, I saw snow on my way home from work today! It was only a few flakes and nothing accumulated, but it was real snow in October and that made me happy.

Internet Explorer 7 is out (finally), with tabbed browsing, a phishing filter and feed reader, CSS improvements, AJAX support, and lots of other stuff. I haven’t really tried it out, but I don’t see a difference in how this site is displayed *shrugs* Whether you love Firefox, another non-IE browser, or are just too attached to IE to care, go get the new version.

I woke up to a dripping sound, except I can’t for the life of me figure out where it’s coming from. It sounds like it’s upstairs, but venturing up there reveals nothing and the sound can only be heard from my room. It’s really bugging me … it’s raining outside, my ceiling leaked in the last rain, so what else could it be? Is it in the wall or something? I just hope it doesn’t find its way from wherever it is to the hole in my ceiling …

Last semester the portfolio review results were announced on Monday (after being reviewed on Friday), which was good. But now, for some reason, I have to wait ’til Wednesday even though the portfolios were still reviewed on Friday
It’s especially annoying since this is my last chance … I keep telling myself to chill since my advisor said I’d do fine as long as I fixed a few things (which I did), but it doesn’t always work. Meh.
Edit: If you didn’t know already, I didn’t pass … at first I was in disbelief and thought my life was over (and it still hasn’t completely sunk in), but now I think I’ll just get a BA in art instead of a BFA in graphic design (and maybe even graduate sooner) — just ’cause 4 people don’t approve of my work doesn’t mean I can’t still pursue a career in it. I have a meeting with my advisor tomorrow to go over my options, so we’ll see what I can really do …

Like everyone else, I’ve been busy with school and nothing exciting going on (haven’t even had time to play The Sims!).
Then my ceiling started leaking last night — onto my bed
After I realized what was happening I freaked out a little bit, pushed it away, and got a tupperware container and some newspaper to catch the rest of the yucky brown water. It dripped every 5 - 10 seconds (kinda like Chinese water torture) and continued for about 4 hours. When I woke up there was maybe an inch of water in the container, but who knows what it’s like now since I’ve been at work all day and the rain has increased since I left this morning. The upstairs is fine as far as I can tell, so the water is probably coming through the old shingles and into the couple feet or so of ceiling that isn’t accessible from the 2nd floor. This happened to Starza’s room last year, so I guess my time has come. I can only wonder how long it’ll take LJ (my landlord) to fix it … and what room will be hit with the next hard rain.
