Okay, whose genius idea was it to give a 403 error to anyone who uses the word “curl” in a post? I mean, I know why thanks to this thread, but come on. Banning a whole word from ever being used? I just tried to edit a post that had “curl” at the end, and ASO threw a fit (JVDS, my old host, didn’t seem to have a problem with it). I know it’s supposed to be “more secure” or whatever, and yeah there are ways around it (like using quotation marks or c<!-- -->url), but it’s still annoying
Here’s what my host said:
Curl is a program on Unix that we block out from normal users. Often exploits in wordpress and other cms software have vulnerabilities, and to keep exploits from getting through and making use of certain programs they are filtered out. You can also put quotes around it, however that may look a little funny. I appologize for the inconvenience, but it is in place to keep the server safer from hackers.
Edit: I found a fix! Just put this in your .htaccess:
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
