Love/hate air conditioning.

Arrow Tuesday, May 30, 2006 @ 12:00 pm

Why does everywhere I go either have the A/C turned up too high, or not available at all? At home I’m hot, at work I’m freezing (despite the space heater) — why can’t there be a happy medium? I keep wanting to take an early lunch break just to go outside and warm up, though after half an hour of that, I’ll be wanting to come back here. Blah. And though I only work 2 days this week, maybe I should get a “work only” hoodie from Target or something to keep in the office. Warm fuzziness would be nice right now lol.

Lonely again.

Arrow Monday, May 22, 2006 @ 10:21 am

The house is so empty. No kitties, no people, nothing … just vacant rooms, a huge pile of trash in the front yard, and a rotting piece of broccoli in the fridge that’s been there who knows how long (it’s brown, covered with white mold, and halfway dissolved) and needs to be gone … I’m thinking about throwing away the whole freaking crisper drawer since I don’t want to touch it lol.

Spent an hour last night cleaning Starza’s food that I didn’t want from the kitchen and other random things that were left. I won’t have a TV this week, but I can live — the Top Model finale was last week and if I really wanna watch something, there’s UREC. I also need to buy one of those little gray outlet things that turns 3-prong plugs into 2-prong for the microwave … should’ve taken the one I found at home, but wasn’t thinking … eh, oh well, it’s probably like $2. I need to clean the fridge too, something I’ve never done (a Google search says I should use either bleach or baking soda) … anyone have any tips?

Edit: I pretty much just took all the food out and cleaned the door and 3 side walls by hand with a wet sponge, then brought the drawers and wire racks to the sink to be soaked (especially the moldy broccoli drawer) and cleaned. I read online that an open container of coffee grounds or baking soda helps absorb odors long-term, so I’m trying that with some old Starbucks. Right now there’s a faint coffee scent … hopefully it’ll go away soon.

Not a lurker anymore.

Arrow Thursday, May 11, 2006 @ 10:23 pm

So there was a Hanson chat tonight, and it was pissing me off ’cause all these people were getting more than one of their questions answered that’d been asked a billion times before, and I felt I’d come up with lots of particularly interesting ones (when usually I only ask 1 or 2). Then, suddenly, in the final minutes of the chat, I appear on-screen!

Chat question

It’s not what I’d have picked for them to answer, and I think Elf (the main moderator) was running out of “good” questions since mine was the last, but hey — out of 250+ fans, my question was chosen! My week/month has been made

I got my grades!

  • Three-Dimensional Design: B
  • Foundations Seminar: A
  • Ceramics: B
  • Physical Geology: C
  • Portfolio Review: NC (no credit)

Not too shabby. Except for not passing portfolio review, but that’ll all change in the fall. Oh, and congrats to Starza for finally getting hired by PETA!

Addicted to you.

Arrow Wednesday, May 10, 2006 @ 11:58 am

So I got The Sims 2 on Monday, and wow. Most. Addicting. Game. Ever. I played for like 6 hours last night, but maybe that’s ’cause I played on my own lot instead of one of the presets and made Sim versions of me and Brian lol. It’s weird, I don’t notice time passing when I’m playing … I keep having to remind myself to look at the clock every now and then, otherwise I’d stay up all night without realizing it. If only that could happen with work

I am DONE with junior year  Just took my Foundations exam, and got 3 out of 40 wrong, but that’s okay ’cause the class average is 36. Now I have two senior, part-time years to get through (graduating in spring ‘08), but not all of that is my fault … at least Dawn said my portfolio was a lot better, and that she’ll definitely pass me next year. Yay. I’m looking forward to taking Web Design and the other cool classes next spring.

Edit: Got it all figured out … here’s what my class schedule will be for the rest of college:

  • Fall ‘06: ART 380 (Seminar in Aesthetics), ART 362 (Figure Drawing), and GRPH 250 (Portfolio Review)
  • Spring ‘07: GRPH 346 (Intermediate Typography) and 2 of the following:
    • GRPH/SMAD 339 (Web Design)
    • GRPH 345 (Advertising Design)
    • GRPH 347 (Package Design)
    • GRPH 349 (Illustration)
    • GRPH 390 (Topics in Graphic Design)
    • GRPH 490 (Independent Study in Graphic Design)
    • GRPH 495 (Internship in Graphic Design)
  • Fall ‘07: GRPH 446 (Advanced Typography) and GRPH 447 (Type and Image)
  • Spring ‘08: GRPH 498 (Graphic Design Portfolio)
