Our oil heat came today — yay!
Edit: But … the stupid pilot light’s out (or something equally annoying). Go figure.

Wednesday, October 12, 2005 @ 6:10 pm I’m bored and frustrated about my small veins. Attempted to donate plasma today but couldn’t … it’s been five years since I last tried with blood and figured they might have gotten at least a little bigger, but no. Nothing happened when they tied that plastic strap around my upper arm and told me to clench my fist. Two nurses felt both my arms and got nada — why the fuck can’t my veins be normal? At least they gave me a squeeze ball and said to come back in a month. I wonder if it’ll make any difference. Anyway, I decided to do a survey (from Shaune) to stop thinking about it:
Your birth date: July 5, 1984
Your age: 21
Age you wish you were: I don’t know, there’s always something new each year.

Are you a daredevil: Yep. If you can go skydiving (and bungee jumping, jet skiing, parasailing, rollercoaster-ing, etc.), there’s no question.
Is there anything you fear or hate about yourself: I get depressed easily and can take things the wrong way … I guess a fear could be the assumption that if you don’t make something of yourself in life, you’re a failure.

Monday, October 10, 2005 @ 9:47 pm I’m listening to Hanson’s new live album via AOL right now, can’t wait to get the real thing tomorrow, and am feeling a new wave of yay-for-Hanson-ness coming on
Let’s see … according to Hanson.net, the only place around here that’ll have the limited edition is Sam Goody, ’cause Hanson’s being annoying and only releasing the limited edition to select stores (which is weird ’cause everywhere had the limited edition of Underneath when it came out). I dunno, I just hope I can find it — there’s a kind of excitement that comes with buying and listening to a new release on the same day, and I’ll be sad if I have to forgo that. I guess only time will tell …
Edit: Harrisonburg officially doesn’t have the limited edition. I checked Sam Goody, Target, Wal-Mart, and Barnes & Noble, but at least the regular version is readily available. Just ordered the limited one from Amazon.

Sunday, October 9, 2005 @ 7:30 pm More subconscious thoughts (i.e., when it says _____, I think _____):
Edit: As of tonight, my newest pet peeve is the coffee machine in Duke. Even though it’s out of cups, it still dispenses the coffee and takes your money … and then you’re screwed ’cause no cup = no coffee. It normally wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s 1 am and I still have to do evil sketches for typography (at 8 am). Grr.
And, per Brian’s request, want an easy way to change & to & in your posts? All you have to do is copy a few lines of javascript into a bookmark, and when you have a textarea with unconverted &, just click your new bookmark and watch the magic happen.

Wednesday, October 5, 2005 @ 6:16 pm Never thought I’d be saying this, but at the moment I love Harrisonburg. Went downtown (which I try to avoid ’cause all the streets are one way and go in circles) to find a place called “Touch of the Earth” to get an eyebrow ring for my metal project. Luckily I find it on my second round through, get a metered parking place right after they’re free, go into the tiny store that smells of incense and candles, and ask the lady there about eyebrow rings. She shows me what they have and after five minutes of looking I find what I’m looking for (pretend the colored balls are clear):

Know what else? Since the piece was 50% off and I didn’t have the resulting $3 in cash, she let me have it for free as long as I came back later to pay and show her my project
So yay.
I’ve also wanted to get my eyebrow pierced for a while, and after all the piercing talk in class and seeing a few options at Touch of the Earth, I wanna do it even more
I know Brian probably wouldn’t like it and my dad and brother would be like hell no, but they can just deal since I’m not 16 anymore. Besides, I can always let it close up. What do you think?
Tuesday, October 4, 2005 @ 5:09 pm Our second project (due today) was to make a shirt with “life” on the front and “death” on the back. Here’s mine:

(a horse … which I also used for the first project lol)

(a bottle of Elmer’s glue)
I was inspired by an episode of Whose Line where they had to think of bad names for racehorses. One of Ryan’s was “come on, Gonna Be Glue!,” so there you go. I think the shirt is more for the show than anything else

Ew. Mosley (one of Starza’s kitties) just peed on my drawing board for art (luckily there wasn’t anything on it) while I was sitting here. He’s done it a couple times before when I was gone, but while I’m in the room? That’s just gross … his litter box is in the basement, which he does use, so I don’t know why he thinks my room is okay. He doesn’t do anything in Starza’s room or Bevin’s or anywhere else, and it’s starting to annoy me. I love the kitties and hate not letting them in my room (especially with a door that sticks and wobbles when you close it), but that seems to be the only option now *sigh*
