Is Gmail slow/not loading for anyone else? It’s been doing that to me for a couple days now, and it’s annoying ’cause I have my school and site addresses forwarding to it. Meh.
I was gonna do homework tonight, but after three days of not enough sleep, too much walking and supplies shopping, and the stress of dealing with five 2 1/2-hour art classes at once (especially three right after each other with no lunch break), I might just say screw it. I even took a nap after class today and am still kinda tired. And though I have the wedding this weekend, I’m staying ’til at least Friday so I’ll be around for the DHL guy to pick up my iPod (between 12 and 3) and to get some work done.

This is insane. In addition to paying $250 in lab fees, supplies this year cost a whopping $400. Boy is my dad gonna be surprised, especially since he’s paying me back for it. At this rate, I won’t have to buy anything next year ’cause every single art item in the world was required for fall 2005! And yeah, I know some people’s books cost $600, but still — I’ve never had to fork over that much before, and I’ll probably need to replace/refill supplies I already have. Plus unforseen expenses *sigh*

My iPod died last night even though it worked fine the day and night before … my laptop can’t recognize it, resetting doesn’t help, now it won’t even turn on, and it cost $30 to send to Apple for repair (at least they’re sending me a box) ![]()

I came home after 12 hours on campus to an empty house and huge black ants all over something in the trash (which wasn’t mine) and had to stand there for 15 minutes (while freaking out) and drown them with the Raid I’d conveniently bought a few hours earlier. I hope trash day is tomorrow ’cause our can is full, and all the houses on 42 have theirs by the curb … but no one on this street does, so I dunno. I also had to kill a spider in the bathroom.
Had my first taste of “upperclassdom” today. My typography class is gonna kill me — the professor is nice, but it’s at 8 am, we have a project due Wednesday on material that he didn’t go over, when almost no one has their books or supplies (which are needed for the project), and will take hours to finish with rusty Illustrator skills (which he doesn’t possess). I tried to do as much as I could today for my other classes (finished sawing brass in Metals and prepared yarn in Weaving, though I don’t think I did it right since I have no fuckin’ idea what I’m doing … she just wanted us to memorize the way it was wound on the wooden pegs) so I’d have time to shop tomorrow morning and put together something that doesn’t suck *sigh* I can’t believe I have two more classes to buy shit for … isn’t $250 in lab fees and $100+ in supplies enough?
Oh yeah, and on Mondays and Wednesdays I don’t get to eat lunch. Since I have class from 8 - 4 and have to use every minute so I don’t get behind on the tedious, labor-intensive projects, my “lunch” will consist of whatever I feel like from the newly-discovered vending machines in Duke (today was Cherry Coke and pretzels).
And what is up with everything at JMU being different? Nothing was changed last year! There’s a new ATM, new tennis court steps, Dukes is being rebuilt, TDU is completely flipped, there’s a weird window addition thing in Wilson, the salad bar line at D-hall is different, and probably more that I have yet to come across. This year is off to a shaky start.

Went to campus yesterday to get my one book and deposit a check, and instantly noticed two improvements. First, they fixed the rotted stairs by the tennis courts with concrete and second, put in a whole new ATM machine that took me a couple seconds to figure out. The old one used to eat your card until whatever you were doing was over … now you just have to swipe it. I actually witnessed one guy lose his card in the ATM for some reason, so maybe they had too many cases like that and decided to do something about it. And the cool part is I just looked at my account online, and the whole check is already there — what happened to the three-to-five-day hold? I also figured out a way to get to the art studio (and the main campus) in maybe 10 - 15 minutes without walking the tracks.
So Brian and company got back late last night (forgot to notice the timestamp since I woke up at 5 am to my computer spazzing with the fan blasting and the CPU at 100% and all I cared about was shutting it down) from Jason’s bachelor party and said all four of them were sleeping there. WTF? There isn’t room for four people unless one sleeps on the couch and one shares a bed with him, which I doubt anyone agreed to … then again, they were “exceptionally drunk,” so who knows
Then I tried to go back to sleep for an hour and a half but couldn’t ’cause all I could think about was what he said, not to mention the earlier phone call where I’d wanted to talk but pretty much got hung up on since they were at the stadium and didn’t get reception … right. With all the media coverage that happens at a stadium, they’d be stupid to exclude phone calls. But whatever, now I’m just ranting and wishing that everytime Brian went somewhere, I didn’t have to worry about what he’d say and do …

I am now in Harrisonburg. And tired. Tomorrow will consist of errands for the majority of the day. Bevin (my other roommate) is someone I’ve actually seen before (out of 15,000 JMU students) and Will (Brad’s friend) wants to have Drunkfest 4 here. Yay. I wish I could be like Starza and spend random nights at my boyfriend’s house … meh. Goodnight.
Oh yeah, and Owen might not be coming back at all.
