So even though SimTower worked fine (on XP) while I built my first tower, it now freaks out and has to close 5 seconds after loading my second one. And this is after restarting a couple times and not running the program for a week or two. I don’t know … maybe I installed something to provoke the error, but if I did, I wouldn’t have any way of finding out what. Eh … maybe SimTower is dead. Despite all the time spent playing it while I was younger, I guess it won’t work forever. Why did Maxis only release one version?

It’s a nice Friday night and I’m stuck at work for who knows how long. Me and Selina have 88 binders with 8 tabs and 12 different files to go between them due Monday at 8 am. Problem is, the printer didn’t want to work, and when we finally beat it into submission, it was past 5 o’clock. Now it’s 7:15 and we’re only on the third (90 pages long) file … I’m so going to be here ’til midnight, and I’m so going to have to come in tomorrow
And the pizza and Pepsi and cookies we got for free today are all I have in my stomach, and I’m starting to get a headache from a lack of decent food (or maybe it’s just the caffeine). At least I’m not sentenced to this job forever …
Edit: It’s now 10:30, and I’m still here. We’re maybe 2/3 done now …
Edit: Didn’t end up leaving ’til 12:30 … man. Never worked 15 hours straight before.

I hate work (and ignorant people). Today has been the worst so far — even though I got my badge, I still can’t get into the Dup Center (and won’t be able to until Rodney sends the security people an email which, knowing him, probably won’t get sent at all). Then, right before I was gonna take lunch, Rodney handed me a 174 x 20 rush job that needed to be done in less than two hours. So not only did I not get lunch, the job was still late ’cause I couldn’t think straight on low blood sugar and thus kept confusing the evil printer and becoming more stressed. I think I’ll take it upon myself to chill for half an hour and let my pseudo-lunch (iced tea and Cheez-Its) from 5:30 digest. Nothing’s due tomorrow until noon, and though I could be making copies of 30-some hard copies, I don’t feel like it.
Why is it fucking thunderstorming outside when the weather report this morning said nothing about rain?
Hell, I was outside 20 minutes ago and it was sunny and hot — plus my car windows are open so now I’ll be driving home wet (stupid covered parking levels being full by 10). Can this day suck any more?

Ah … ’twas another fun-filled day at work, complete with overtime. Found out that Rodney will be leaving for bigger and better things in a few weeks (though I’m not supposed to know yet) and Ray, with any luck, will be quick on his heels in hopes of shortening his six-hour commute. Joy … good thing I won’t be around to see it. Also haven’t talked to Derek in a while. Rodney thinks we just don’t “click” — but if that’s true, why did he come over here (or call) all the time before to talk? I don’t know … if he’s not willing to anymore, his loss.
I get my badge tomorrow!
The paperwork was submitted like three weeks ago, so it’s about frickin’ time. Let’s see if it actually happens when I get to the security office.
Well, the 86 x 16 print job (last of the day) has finally finished, so I’m heading home. Look for another post tomorrow or Thursday if I feel like it (plus a weekend wrap-up since Saturday turned out to be like 36 hours long
).

When I (and many others, I’m sure) think of “vista,” all that comes to mind is “hasta la vista, baby” and not this definition. Well, now there’s another meaning: Windows Vista is what Microsoft has officially named Longhorn (its code name). I don’t understand … whatever happened to simple numbers (98, 2000) or letters (ME, XP)? What’s so special about “Vista” that makes it appealing to potential customers or verbally in synch with older versions of Windows? Basically, I agree with this guy … and that Microsoft should ditch “Vista” and go back to Longhorn (which, if nothing else, sounds better).
