Photanical.

Arrow Thursday, June 16, 2005 @ 10:51 am

I know I said I’d never use someone else’s WordPress theme (I like creating my own), but then I came across Photanical — it’s not the same old “clean” layout with a picture across the top. So if I’m ever bored one day and feel like downloading a certain plugin and theme, be prepared for some theme-switching goodness to arrive soon.

Aww how cute is that … Mackie (my kittie) is snoring!

Site maintenance.

Arrow Wednesday, June 15, 2005 @ 3:41 pm

I can never spell “maintenance” right.

Just got done updating all the plugins I use to their newest version … took longer than I expected (stupid plugin manager being down). Also updated my Starburst theme a bit (I hadn’t since March). And why is my WordPress dashboard blank? It was working yesterday, and WordPress Planet (where the feed comes from) seems to be fine, but for some reason the dashboard doesn’t like it. Meh.

Edit: It’s a WordPress-wide feed issue. See this support thread for more info.

I have hang gliding class tonight. Don’t know what’s in store and I have a funny feeling about something, but oh well. Going back to Arlington should be cool.

HOT or NOT for pets … and stuff.

Arrow Tuesday, June 14, 2005 @ 9:22 pm

So, which kitten or puppy is cuter? Visit Kitten War and Puppy War to find out

Randstad sucks. Picked up job applications for Microcenter and Michaels today … wonder how I’ll do second time around. Almost got one for Starbucks too, but decided against it … I didn’t let myself work in the food industry last time, not going to this time. There’s just some stuff I won’t do, and people need to accept that.

Saw Brad this morning, which was nice. Finally watched Napoleon Dynamite (and enjoyed it) while having pepperoni and black olive (yay) pizza for lunch. Came up with a genius plan that involved little evil upside-down helicopters that I won’t discuss in detail here. But it was frickin’ funny.

Went to Old Navy and got jean and workout/sleep shorts since I was running low. Don’t know if it’s a new policy or something, but did Old Navy always include your garments’ hangers in your bag instead of taking them off? That’s like a Wal-Mart thing, and it seems weird for Old Navy to do it too *shrugs*

Crystal City, BitTorrent.

Arrow Monday, June 13, 2005 @ 1:01 am

Saw Da Vinci’s Notebook and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy today at the Crystal City Rocks concert. DVN were awesome — especially during “Title of the Song” — but it was sad ’cause today was their only 2005 performance. I wanted to get their promo CD too (the only one I didn’t have), but didn’t know it was there until too late. I did, however, buy Paul and Storm’s “Shame and Cookie Dough” CD and talk to the guys/get it autographed — I’m glad they still remembered and enjoyed their time at Foxcroft 4 years ago — yay  BBVD were also good, just not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I had fun and escaped without a sunburn!

Paul and Storm Autograph

Okay, Ross is bugging me … he’s playing chess online and every couple minutes will turn away and grind his teeth so much that his head shakes … apparently if something isn’t exactly the way he wants it, he gets mad — and then he gets like my dad *sigh* I just wish he’d chill and realize that when a miniscule thing goes wrong, it’s not the end of the world

For the past couple hours I’ve been downloading like crazy (Eisbrecher, Michelle Branch, Sarah Brightman, etc.) and hoping the internet doesn’t go down for the third time tonight (it keeps needing to be reset … wtf) — I’ve just discovered BitTorrent and am trying to get “Howl’s Moving Castle” to work. If all goes well, you’ll know where to find me the next couple of days!

Shirlington and the Fairfax Fair.

Arrow Sunday, June 12, 2005 @ 3:43 am

Seeing as how it’s 3 am and I’m still not in bed, this entry shouldn’t be too long (not really tired though). After looking at my Amazon wish list and realizing I could probably download the CDs I wanted, I’m trying to do that while figuring out what new things to ask for my birthday next month. I have a grand total of two so far … meh. Thinking of stuff isn’t that easy.

Saw Howl’s Moving Castle (another Miyazaki masterpiece) in Shirlington last night with Brian and, despite the subtitles, it was really freakin’ awesome. Not only is Howl like the hottest anime guy ever (picture), but I want a fire like Calcifer and a magic house and a possessed scarecrow  And then before that, at Fair Oaks, there was this guy working in Hot Topic with blue spiked hair and black eyeliner … I was just like *drool*

After the movie we went to Ruby Tuesday in hopes of hanging out with Shaune (if she was there) as her shift died down, and found we were in luck as I spotted her car in the lot. It was cool ’cause she let me order a drink (my first time in a restaurant … mochatinis are yummy  ). Definitely need to go there more often — maybe even apply for a job if there’s nothing else …

The Fairfax Fair was also this weekend, so Brian and I spent 3 - 4 hours there tonight. Had dinner, went on only two rides (stupid tickets were expensive and we missed the ride-all-day deadline), played two games and didn’t win anything, and then got ice cream and watched the fireworks. The fireworks were pretty much the only free thing there — and the petting zoo, which was so cute! There were llamas, goats, ducks, sheep, donkeys, and a lone cow and camel. It was really funny — this one llama was sitting down and the baby goats kept jumping on its back and causing it to half-stand-up and push them off until it finally said screw it and stood up completely — with one goat still on its back (which eventually fell off). Everyone was laughing.

Wayback Machine.

Arrow Thursday, June 9, 2005 @ 12:59 am

I love looking at old versions of weirdncrazy.com (and this site) on the Wayback Machine … oh, how my writing was terrible and filled with lots of exclamation points, but at least I was a die-hard Hanson fan and worked on the site every change I got  Maybe I’ll even add whatever journal posts I can salvage from the pre-Blogger days of Universe to the archives. Man, thinking about the “good ‘ol days” makes me feel old.

DDR, Brad.

Arrow Sunday, June 5, 2005 @ 6:57 pm

30 days ’til my birthday! Yay. I so don’t know what I want … gotta get on that.

Spent most of today renaming my 264 DDR songs to include title, artist, and respective game mix, which wasn’t always easy since some people don’t think ID3 tags are important (grr). But now my iPod is all nice and organized … except for the files on the PC, which have still refused to show up in “My Network Places” despite my numerous attempts to make them cooperate

It’s weird, I go like 6 months without seeing Brad, and then I go and see him Thursday and last night, and then again tonight at the 9:30 Club ’cause his friend’s band is playing. Though Brian and Neusha are also coming, it’s still been a change from seeing Brian every single day … I need that sometimes.

My computer’s still working!
