It’s another WordPress update post … version 1.5.1.3 has been released with an important security update. In fact, it’s so important that the development blog advises the following:
The problem is not yet public but you should update your blog as soon as possible to 1.5.1.3. If you are unable to do upgrade in the short-term you may protect yourself by deleting the xmlrpc.php file from your WordPress directory.
Work today was a little better. Got to sleep in an hour, brought water and a granola bar, took lunch earlier, and got myself on the visitors list. I wish I could wear jeans since dealing with printers and paper and ink for hours on end in nice clothes isn’t too comfortable … but not like I can do anything about it. I need more casual skirts and longer/better-fitting pants. Oh yeah, and Rodney only wants me there for three weeks. Must try to see the design department before then.
Eep! Hanson.net (the official Hanson site) just got a complete makeover and I had no frickin’ idea it was happening … whatever happened to posting news in the News section? And big surprise, it sucks: the graphics are fuzzy, the sidebar is cut off (even for my 1024 x 768 resolution), and it’s harder to navigate *sigh* Stupid web designers. At least the “Gear” and “Media” sections are nicer.

Man. I never knew that printing and binding and collating could be so much work. I spent half the day standing in 2-inch heels, printing 2500 color pages, and hand-collating 13 stacks of 150 pages each. Ick. Not to mention binding and cutting. Don’t even know how to laminate yet, but I guess I’ll figure that out tomorrow. And I’m the youngest and only white person in the duplication center … is that a sign or am I just too observant? The rest of AOL seems more like me.
On a better note, I don’t have to deal with the clients (yet).
It was also hard to wait to 3:30 to eat lunch — it wouldn’t have been so bad if I’d eaten more than a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast and remembered to bring water or a snack with me. Not having a badge makes it hard to leave the duplication center — why does every frickin’ door and elevator require authorization? But oh well … if I get lost or locked out, it gives me a chance to meet the cool, “real” AOL people like the nice guy in the News section
Nevertheless, it was neat learning how a document goes from the computer to the pretty little pamphlets and brochures and manuals you see everyday. Rodney (my boss) also said that if I wasn’t going to school, he’d most likely offer me a permanent position in the department if I wanted, so yay. Apparently my knowing how to use a computer and what the mouse and desktop are is a big plus …

Only 7 days ’til I’m 21. Can’t believe it. And I finally have a job! Starting tomorrow at 8 am, I’m a “document production specialist” at IKON for the next 2 - 3 weeks. Apparently I’ll be doing stuff like laminating, binding, and punching holes in documents, plus troubleshooting and making sure that whatever I put together is what the client wanted. Doesn’t sound too bad, but hopefully the customer service aspect isn’t a big part of the position — not really a “people person.” But oh well … Leona said the manager liked my resume the best ![]()

Yay, finally got SimTower to work on XP! Don’t know if using the Compatibility Wizard helped, but at least the random errors I kept getting are gone (for now). I still have to fiddle with the .tdt extension to get it to save (i.e., going back and forth between upper and lowercase), but oh well. The tower I started yesterday now has 4 stars, so gonna go all the way with that before starting another
Edit: I am victorious!

Well, fuck. Somehow I misplaced the papers and CDs that came with my old laptop — I don’t remember throwing them away … then again, wouldn’t put it past me. I’ve searched my room and the basement and come up empty-handed. I’ve even tried the Windows 98 and XP Home Edition installation CDs from my other computers, but all they do is bring up errors. Brian can’t figure out why Ubuntu won’t load (why Windows was erased in the first place), so now I have a semi-working laptop with no operating system to put on it *sigh* Maybe it’s time to say goodbye? ![]()

Well that sucks … Owen’s moving out and doesn’t know when he’ll be back
Yeah I’ve only met him once, but still — I was gonna frickin’ live with him … I don’t know, I just hope he’ll be okay. It’s hard to say the right thing when you haven’t talked much to someone yet can obviously see they’re not happy … meh.

Wow, what a busy day this has been. At 1 I had my interview at Manpower which, despite piles of paperwork, went well. Almost got a job for this Saturday, but it got canceled for some reason. Then someone named Lisa called (I think I found her on Yahoo’s HotJobs) with a data entry job in Alexandria that I’m hoping I qualify for since it would take up my whole summer. Randstad calls (for once) soon after with a “document production” position … i.e., laminating, cutting, hole-punching, talking with clients, etc. Should be interesting since I’ve never done that … but we’ll see. I have my fingers crossed that the data entry falls through, but I’ll be happy with whatever I get.
So after making and receiving 827503 phone calls and dragging my bike out of my car, I take Ross to his treatment and finally am able to relax and frickin’ eat — been starving all day! Oh yeah, and finish my laundry. But oh well … now I gotta go meet Shaune, Mike, and Al at Ruby’s for coffee/dessert/whatever … bye!
Edit: Cross out the data entry job, and maybe the document production one too *sigh* Back to square one again …
