My computer’s spazzing, I’ve been working with Quark for like 4 hours in the lab and my project still sucks, I have a job application due and test tomorrow, and the Themes Competition winners have been announced — excluding me. Not that I should’ve won something (there were lots of awesome submissions, and Connections definitely deserved to win), but I’d just like a few people to recognize my work for once. When you don’t win and have nothing else to offer, what are you supposed to do?
Becca must be having a field day. In one month she’s gotten a design job and won the most expensive prize ($500) in the competition. She’s also a year younger than me. Wish I was that good.
I don’t think I should go home this weekend. I hate Quark, but oh well, I guess a Firefox logo and the layout of my type isn’t creative enough (I’m making a Firefox ad)
Then I need to learn Excel again for bio. And do my pre-lab. And make a poster. And, oh yeah, glue together another collage for art *sigh*

My computer’s making noise
It’s coming from the speakers, and sounds like a fan’s loose or hitting something it shouldn’t be. Also, sometimes when I tip the base up the sound goes away … ? Blah. And it’s only 7 months old.
Edit: I was trying to work in Word on my art history due later, and during one of my many lulls in reading I look up to a black menu bar — no start menu, quick launch bar, windows, or system tray — just black. Then I got a blue screen and had to restart. WTF?

Check out Google’s version of “Starry Night” as a birthday tribute to Vincent van Gogh, whose 152nd birthday is today:

Search and Replace is the greatest plugin ever — in 30 minutes I was able to do what would’ve taken forever manually: edit my 1100-some posts and pages through MySQL (like changing <b> tags to <strong>, deleting target="_blank" from links, etc.).
Firefox’s feed reader extension, Sage, is also pretty cool. All you do is add a RSS or Atom URL to your “Sage Feeds” bookmarks folder, and when you open Sage, they’ll be there for your reading pleasure.

I fuckin’ hate this … every step I try to take in the right direction reminds me of failure. I wish I could just lay in bed and cry and wake up without the hurt/pressure I feel at every attempt to better my life. Then again, there’s no point in writing this … no one understands and I can’t explain ![]()

Google Suggest (still in beta) is really cool — you start typing and Google automatically suggests a list of possible search terms via a drop-down box. So you save time and energy, as well as being able to click on terms that you may not normally have thought of. This is definitely replacing my default Google/Firefox homepage ![]()
