Sexy poof.

Arrow Thursday, August 19, 2004 @ 8:30 am

How The Right Name Makes You Sexier: my name is apparently not-so-sexy. Eh.

Did a lot last night. Starting packing, put my whole site on the external hard drive, finally updated WNC and finished its PHP makeover, and installed Photoshop 7.0 and Macromedia MX (which took like an hour … stupid slow computer). Tonight I need to do laundry, pack more … and start on that Seraphim Shock layout.

Eep.

Arrow Wednesday, August 18, 2004 @ 8:34 am

I enabled hotlink protection on cPanel because I thought it’d keep people from direct-linking my fanlisting (and other) images … and now my Blogger profile picture won’t work (among others, I’m sure). Stupid feature … why can’t I select certain pictures to be left alone? Blah. I can’t even log in and change it from this computer.

Ray is awesome. Yeah he may be kinda weird and like to randomly bug me, but I talked to him yesterday for like fifteen minutes about school and HTML, and now I have a copy of Photoshop 7.0 (to replace my 6.0) and Macromedia MX! I was like score — I didn’t think he’d actually remember to burn me the CD. Yay.

Oops, I didn’t update about the weekend? Well, Friday’s taken care of, but man, Saturday night was full of surprises. After Brian (my Brooglian  ) did his magic and fixed Ross and I’s external hard drive, we headed to Shaune’s, getting there around 11. And yes, the hype was lived up to. I bet at least 40 people were there, thus making it one of the biggest parties I’d been to (while not passed out). I got to catch up with Alan, Megan, Jon, and Shayne — who’d come from two hours away and decided to have a rant-fest about me with Brian while I was standing there. Granted, it was interesting, and I’m glad they get along, but geez, there’s just some stuff you don’t say.

Then came cop scare #1, so Shaune hurried us all inside. What happened two seconds later? FIGHT. Two guys started punching each other, apparently over some girl, and it took like ten people to break it up and hold them back. Consequently, they got kicked out … though the rest of the night includes more drama involving them that I’m not 100% sure about. It was the first real fight I’ve witnessed, and I’ll leave it at that.

But wait, there’s more. Guess who else was there? Brendan Gallagher, of all people — the son of one of my dad’s best friends. I hadn’t seen him in like ten years (during which he grew about ten feet), but somehow he recognized me, so we talked and exchanged phone numbers. Definitely gotta hang out with him soon, one reason being he can hook me up with the good “herbal goodness.” Wow that’s redundant … oh well. Another guy named Bryan (forget his last name) came up to me and said I looked familiar, except I didn’t recognize him at all. Supposedly we were at Swanson together, but maybe he was in a different grade *shrugs*

Brian and I left at cop scare #2, when Shaune shooed everyone out who wasn’t spending the night.

Bah I’m getting so sick of this layout … but wanna get my XHTML and CSS working right before doing anything to it. Speaking of which, weirdncrazy.com is done except for the PHP pages, and I got approved for the Seraphim Shock fanlisting. Cool.

Web-crazy.

Arrow Saturday, August 14, 2004 @ 12:49 pm

After being up for close to 20 hours yesterday between work, dealing with rush hour, and seeing Guys And Dolls, it felt so good to sleep in. Today’s gonna be pretty mellow, filled only with school shopping, dinner, and Shaune’s party. My dad doesn’t want me going anywhere ’cause of the approaching hurricane, but probably won’t listen to him. If tonight really is as crazy as Shaune makes it out to be, there’s no way I’m missing it!

I’m currently in the process of rewriting every single page on my domain to valid XHTML and CSS. So far I’ve completed the a’s and .css pages on weirdnrazy.com (plus a few random others) … and that’s after two days at work. No doubt it’s gonna take awhile, but after next week I should be done with it, and then I can just do the rest at my leisure at school. I can’t wait to put up those W3C-validated icons

Happy day.

Yay. I so need to get this — might as well — the replacement bulbs for my glitter lamp came yesterday, but they were the wrong kind. Just ordered the right ones today … but why return regular lava bulbs (and barely get any money back) when I can actually use them? It might cost a little more, but as soon as my paycheck and Cutco refund go through, I’ll be fine. I’m already over my limit as is (thanks to LabCorp and LavaLites), but oh well — hello overdraft protection

I got an email from my RA (Sarah), complete with a list of stuff we should bring  Now I’m excited. Granted, I have a lot left over from last year, but just so I don’t forget, here’s a makeshift list I should take care of this weekend:

> power strips (1 for home, 1 for school)
> Christmas lights
> string (don’t ask me, it was on the list)
> computer chair? (dunno if I wanna spend the money)
> foamy padding stuff (as she calls it)
> laundry soap tabs (apparently it’s less mess)
> Anita Blake books

It’s official — the 2-minute hail storm yesterday left dimples in my car (which builds its character, of course). I couldn’t tell before ’cause it was covered in leaves or dark, but now it’s definitely noticable. I’m so glad it’s only a 13-year-old Toyota station wagon

Blogger rocks (at the moment). I emailed them about the abandoned Silenced Lies blog on my list, and they were able to remove me from it. After I get the weirdnrazy.com archives issue worked out, everything should be peachy.

My ideal mate is Asher. Which Anita Blake character is yours?

Are we there yet?

Arrow Wednesday, August 11, 2004 @ 2:37 pm

Surprisingly, the whole move from Hostway to JVDS is almost over. Just finished moving the last of the Gap members to the new database. Solitaire is done. All I gotta do is check the members’ sites of both and rename the entries on Blogger, and I’m home free. Chipmunk has been awesome by giving me great scripts for my guestbooks, links page, and poll. JVDS took care of my hit counters and form mail. PHPFanBase made my fanlistings a thousand times easier to maintain. Maybe one of these days I’ll actually ditch Blogger, but for now, it works and holds about 1000 posts, so I’m not in any hurry. I wonder if there are any tutorials for moving from Blogger to wherever …

Case of the Mondays.

Arrow Monday, August 9, 2004 @ 8:46 am

Not really, I just felt like saying something from Office Space. And thanks to Yaya for commenting

Anyway, my weekend was okay. Though Comedy Sportz was fun (they even used some of my suggestions), we decided to pass on Shaune’s party ’cause we were both exhausted, and I wasn’t feeling too well. I guess it was a good thing, though, as her Xanga details a run-in with the cops (and some bushes).

Speaking of cops, I got pulled over Saturday night for — get this — failure to yield right-of-way. WTF? Everyone does that. Shouldn’t they focus on those who do it on purpose? I didn’t even know I was doing anything wrong: I was making a left onto 50 at a flashing red light, and apparently the car in the right lane swerved and caught the cop’s attention, ’cause seconds later the blue lights were in my rearview mirror. I’d never been pulled over before, so after being asked if I was drunk (twice) or had some crazy medical condition, I was pretty upset. And he still gave me a ticket after trying to make conversation about Foxcroft since his daughter went there or something. Granted, now I’ll be more careful at that light … but geez, can’t I get a break on my first unintentional offense?

The rest of the weekend wasn’t too busy. Slept in, worked on my site, hung out at Brian’s, and took lots of pills — allergies coupled with that time of the month suck. But I’m better now. I think my foot’s healing too.

I feel like a corpse.

Arrow Friday, August 6, 2004 @ 2:04 pm

My right foot’s been hurting ever since I got back from vacation a week ago. I can barely keep my eyes open even though I got 4 hours of sleep last night. I have a headache due to 3 cups of coffee. Gotta drive to Randstad after work to drop off my timesheet. Then drive home in the middle of rush hour. Then either take a nap or chill before going to Comedy Sportz tonight at 10. Is it tomorrow yet?
