80 One Records.

Arrow Friday, April 30, 2004 @ 8:38 pm

Haven’t updated in a couple days, so here I am  I’ll start with last night … and I’m sunburned from lunch today, but that’s another story

Anyway, so around 7:30 I’m working on my cover sheet and resume for The Breeze’s online editor position, when Bob IMs me like are you busy tonight, and wanna come to the 80 One Records CD release party with me? At first I’m like umm what since this is the first time he’s invited me anywhere, but then, since I didn’t wanna study, figured sure why not? So at 8:50 he meets me outside of Garber, and we walk over to Festival. Once inside, music’s already going, and Bob sees some of his friends (one of which is another Claire), so we go and talk to them for a little bit and get our free CDs. Soon we leave them to go find chairs that aren’t right next to the speakers so we can hold some sorta conversation lol. Basically, the whole night consisted of us talking about random stuff, listening to the bands, and having the free late-night breakfast offered. He also bought me a smoothie blizzard thing and t-shirt ’cause I didn’t have any money, which was nice. He’s definitely a cool guy, and looks so much different from what I remember in art. Apparently he’s lost like 25 pounds — something I need to do — so maybe whatever he did will work for me too. That’d rock.

Had lunch with him at Greens today too, which was good except for sitting out in the sun for like 1 1/2 hours — I’m all red! Hehe, but that’s okay, I can definitely use a pseudo-tan

By the way, about me leaving Wednesday? Dunno if that’s gonna happen — Dad needs to drive down and help me take stuff home, and he’s not sure of his schedule … but we’ll see. Either way, I really don’t mind staying another day or two — I could definitely use more time with my JMU people  And I wish Nick lived in VA … but oh well. The closest I’ll get is NY, which I might be visiting to see my grandpa for my birthday … but that’s up in the air. Who knows what’s gonna happen once painting gets in full swing. Speaking of which, Bob wants to help paint — yay! The only downside is that he doesn’t have a car  And on my way home, Joseph (one of my first clients) called me and wants me to come visit sometime tomorrow. It’s kinda weird since he hasn’t booked or anything, but what the hell, it’ll build rapport, and he’s nice … kinda like a second grandpa lol.

Productivity rocks.

Arrow Wednesday, April 28, 2004 @ 8:59 pm

I was productive today: finished my thank-you notes, finished my last psych “project,” read (finally) for my history discussion tomorrow, put Jessica and I’s debate outlines together, watched Hanson on E! News Live (by accident lol), and used up my Flex … again. I think I have a buying stuff disorder — I just put $25 on it on Monday — and am this close to buying more boots from eBay. Oops, already did (with reason, of course)! LOL.

I saw baby ducks today! So instead of “quack,” they said “quackie!” Hehe I was like aww. I wanted to take one home to Brian.

DJ, cut!

To go or not to go to Washington.

Arrow Tuesday, April 27, 2004 @ 12:00 pm

So if Brian gets the job at Microsoft and they offer him like $90,000, he wants me to move to Washington state with him and transfer to the University of Washington. Yeah, big decision. I don’t really wanna do that — at least not yet — ’cause JMU’s awesome, I have painting to worry about, my few good friends are on the east coast … and I’m only 19 lol. But, when the time comes to decide in a few weeks, I’ll do a lot more thinking — even though my dad probably wouldn’t let me go anyway. We’ll see what happens.

I booked the most last weekend for CWP, which I suppose is good despite me still being $7000 shy of $25,000. But oh well, give me a couple more weekends and I should be good to go  That reminds me, need to put together new hire packets for Doron, Nate, etc.

Umm what else … saw The Punisher with Brian on Friday, which was good ’cause it had lots of fire  JMU’s yearbook is out, so need to get that — apparently I’m in two pictures. Also need to do my psych project, but that’s not due ’til Friday.

Nail buffering.

Arrow Sunday, April 25, 2004 @ 11:45 am

The nail buffer kit that I got at the mall yesterday is awesome — my nails are now smooth, shiny, and almost look they have polish on them. For once the people at those little booths didn’t rip me off  Well, maybe … but I got a $5 discount hehe.

Just got finished with my second estimate of the day … and haven’t booked yet. Is $900 too much for two coats of paint on a front door and twelve shutters? I think not

Hello green stuff.

Arrow Saturday, April 24, 2004 @ 10:51 am

I just booked a $3800 job!

Edit: My Dr. Martens came! They’re shiny and comfy, but a bit too big … maybe if I wear heavy socks it won’t be as noticeable. Plus, my weekend booking total is now $5200. Rock!

More randomness: I think I’m gonna hit up Hot Topic before Brian’s … maybe see if Alan’s there and get some more stuff … like I need it haha … and my CD burner sucks. It hates both VNV Nation and Wakefield

Green lace and the flood.

Arrow Friday, April 23, 2004 @ 12:12 pm

Yep new layout … I love the graphic. You like too? Speaking of which, as I was browsing Getty Images yesterday, I came across the following picture:

Same shirt

The girl has the exact same shirt that I do. I was like, hey, that looks familiar. Yay for Gap.

My new favorite song … “Die Flut” by Witt and Heppner:

Wenn ich in mir keine ruhe fuehl
Bitterkeit mein dunkles herz umspuelt

Irgendwo

All die zeit so schnell voruberzieht
Jede spur von mir wie staub zerfliegt
Endlos weit getrieben

And the translation (courtesy Brian):

If I feel no peace
Bitterness washed over my dark heart
I only wait for the next day
Which awakes me

If darkness veils the clear view
No more satisfies the longing
I call the dream to me
That never fulfills itself

And you call into the night
And you beg for wonderful power
To live in a better world
But no better one comes

When does the flood come over me
When comes the flood that calms me
When comes the flood that takes me away to a better life
Somewhere

All the time is quickly pulled by
Every trace of me flies like dust
Endlessly far floated
By an invisible hand

There no star on the cold earth
Which burns only for me
Dull shining, as a fire at night
Which never passes

And you look up to the sky
Swear at the stubborn passing of time
Make for yourself a world out of deceit and light
But it will be no different

And you call out to the world
That she does not please you any longer
You want a more beautiful one
But you will have no better

Paint it black.

Arrow Thursday, April 22, 2004 @ 9:38 pm

I “black-ified” my computer again … have 1/4 of my paper written … need to make a new layout for this site … and have only gone to 4 of my 11 classes this week. Yeah, I suck. But I have to get up for history tomorrow to turn in this stupid paper, might as well go to psych, and will definitely go to business ’cause the professor rocks, the student presentations will be decent, and who knows, Nick might even show his face.

Then I’m free?
