Ooh it’s gonna start thunderstorming soon — yay. Go downpours. And I finally met a guy today that actually wanted to talk to me (unlike Shawn)
He’d just transferred to my anthropology class (and to JMU from ODU), so he sat next to me and asked me stuff ’cause he’d missed the first day. I was like cool. Then we took notes and started a movie about cannibals that was weird ’cause it was in a different language and there was no narrator (just subtitles) … and then class was over and we exchanged screennames. So if I ever need help with something, now I know two people — Shannon and Larry. Score.
Know what else was cool? Art class was canceled! Mrs. Mace left us to teach a photo class (her area of expertise), so we have a new teacher starting Monday. I hope she’s nice. I guess it kinda sucked ’cause art is like my major and all, but still, it was good to have some free time since Maureen had already rearranged my room when I got back and I wanted to go through my package. Speaking of which, I now have something to pass the time between classes — Reader’s Digest! Yay. But first I need to get all my financial stuff straightened out. And why is the frickin’ bank closed at 5? People have class ’til 5. I really need to deposit my dad’s check, ’cause then I can get my art supplies and the little things I need from Wal-Mart. But no. And of course tomorrow is my busy day so I dunno when I’ll have time. Grr. Maybe after health.
*goes to dinner*
I’m back! And I don’t have any work to do except the online Go for the Gold test (which isn’t due for a couple months) … so I’m just hanging out. Chatting with Erica and Larry. Thinking about taking a 2nd shower ’cause it was so hot walking to anthropology and art *shudders*
Anyway, don’t have much more to say, so I’m gonna go and find something to do … adios.

Brr it’s cold. Wanna go get ready for bed but since Maureen’s reading, gotta stay dressed so when Brian calls I can go outside lol.
Anyway, classes started today! I woke up around 10, went to the bookstore (for my free water bottle), UREC to set up my locker and work out (all the ellipticals were taken so I went on the bike and treadmill), showered, and had lunch with this guy Ian (I think that was his name) from White Hall since I couldn’t find my friends. Around 2 I walked to Duke 209 (the same room where I’d had my advising sessions) for anthropology (cultural), and surprisingly most of the class was already there. I was like score, people like to be early around here
The girl I sat next to, Shannon, was nice, she lives close to my dorm (in Bell) and at the end of class I got her screenname. The professor, Mrs. Wolf, is also really cool — after class I introduced myself.
Then at 4:15 I had art (two-dimensional design) with Mrs. Mace (a JMU graduate). Found the room with no problem … but the class is huge! It’s like 30 people, with room for only 20 or 25. But some people were on the waiting list, so I guess that’s why. On Wednesday it’ll probably be better. And as soon as I get Dad’s money (’cause my JACard and checking account balances are low) I gotta go to the craft store near the mall and get my supplies package. It’s like $63.29 (discount included), and I need it by next week. Hopefully I’ll be able to go this Wednesday either with Maureen’s friend, Jennifer, or via the bus. How Mrs. Mace teaches will be interesting — she has a degree in photography, so her style will definitely be influenced by that.
Aaand I just finished my anthropology reading. It took frickin’ forever though … gotta get back into the academic reading routine, which definitely isn’t happening yet lol. It took me like 2 hours to read ~35 pages … but it was small text, so I guess it’s not that bad *nods*
Now I’m just hanging out online, leaning towards getting ready for bed soon since I have an 8 am tomorrow on the other side of 81, and still aren’t sure if I have riding or not (plus Tuesdays and Thursdays are my busiest days). Maybe I’ll get lucky and Ann will call me before 2 about the ride situation … ’cause her emails are kinda flaky. Hmm. Guess we’ll have to see what happens.
I wonder where Maureen went … probably to finish laundry, though I hope my typing wasn’t bothering her.
Oh yeah, and I mailed my first letter today! LOL Aunt Ann’s birthday is on Thursday, so I got her a cool square card and managed to buy a stamp and mail it all in the same day. Go me. My next *challenge* will be picking up Dad’s package if it arrives as such … I know I get a slip of paper in my box saying so, but dunno where to actually pick it up. But Reader’s Digests aren’t exactly bulky, so not sure.
Anyway, it’s 11, so I’m going … and will talk to Brian however late he decides to call, if that
Adios!

Blah, school tomorrow. But not ’til 2:30, so yay I guess. But I wanna get up before 10 so I can go to the bookstore, UREC, lunch, etc.
Didn’t do much today … woke up around 11, showered, went to lunch, did stuff online, met my FROGs before walking over to Tim O’Brien’s speech, which was okay — he’s nice though, I got my book signed, and then headed back. Started laundry, went on a 1 1/2 hour walk to the buildings my classes were in … they were locked so I couldn’t go in, which sucked, but oh well. And the modular buildings are weird … it’s like a doorless concrete building surrounded by ~10 trailers = the classrooms. Que? I guess that’s what floats their boat.
Putting my laundry in the dryer was interesting. There were some guys in the laundry room attempting to do theirs, but kept asking me what cycle to put it on and how much soap. LOL it was funny. Then I put my quarters in the dryer slot that didn’t work, so I lost $1.25. I was kinda pissed (is it just me or is $1.25 expensive?), but I tried a second time with a different slot and it was all good. Sucks that our 8 dryers are down to 6, though. And the guys thought that clothes being dried for an hour is too long, lol, but it’s not. When I took them out they were still the tiniest bit damp, but it wasn’t too bad.
*2 hours later*
Just got back from Wal-Mart! I was bored, so I figured why not, and got me some Pop’ables lol. Would’ve gotten more but I only had like $3. After an hour we left, then I hung out with some people and now I’m talking to Brian … and soon it’s night for me. So bye!

Well that was pointless … the DJ was playing crappy hip hop again … and the people who originally said they were going didn’t at the last minute ’cause they were tired. So I was like oh well, screw it, I’m going anyway. And there were parties again at Ashby and Forest Hills (wherever that is) that I was thinking about going to, but the a cappella performances went way longer than I thought, so didn’t. Most of the people are coming back now anyway … at least the tall annoying girl who flirts with every guy she sees is. She only acknowledges those who like to go out, aka Maureen and Amy and whoever … doesn’t even look at me. Hope I don’t have any classes with her.
I really hope tomorrow is better … I wanna find some people to hang out with besides those in my hall (like Caroline) since I don’t have to be anywhere ’til 2:15 … maybe I’ll get lucky and meet someone at UREC. There’s this one guy (Shawn) in my dorm that seems cool, but have no idea where his room is … don’t see him that much.
Random note: the Madison Project are cool — they sang DJ Sammy’s “California Dreamin’.” Speaking of which, my FTP still doesn’t work, and if I can’t get it fixed I’m gonna be screwed fanlisting-wise. Grr.
Oh well, this night is over, I’m going to bed.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but right now I hate JMU. No one fuckin’ cares, and no one wants to hang out with me. Yeah they might when there’s other people, but not alone. WTF, do I have some freakish unbearable aura? *sigh* I really hate this.

So … I’m bored. My attempts to meet more people today (like Jessica and that guy ditching me at lunch) have failed, and I have nothing to do ’til 9ish when the concert starts. After that I’m probably going to whatever parties Shaune and Jen have found … and don’t have to be up tomorrow ’til 12:30. Also gotta go find out where my classes are. But anyway … dinner was a cookout as a prelude to the pep rally, which sucked. It was so hot, and all that happened was the band playing a few songs, the dance team performing, and a couple teams being announced. Me and my hall people left early. Before all that, put more money onto my JACard, went and checked out the UREC Crossroad thing, and got my last book.
I dunno why, but for some reason it’s so hard to find people that actually wanna be with you. Like a ton of people say hi and stuff, but no one ever comes to my room and is like, hey let’s go do something. I guess it wasn’t that different at Foxcroft, though … my freshman year wasn’t the best. But I dunno … I’m gonna go …

Tonight’s kinda sucked, but at least tomorrow won’t (I hope). Shaune’s coming around 12 or 1 and leaving around 5 or 6, so I’ll get to see her and American Hi-Fi. There’s a picnic/fair at 4:30 that I gotta go to ’cause it’ll be the only place open with food and it’ll probably be interesting. I also tried to call Ann today about a ride to OMF, but she wasn’t there. I left a message with somebody … hopefully she’ll call me back.
And I really wish my FTP would work … I wanna update! Kazaa doesn’t ’cause of the firewall according to Colin (my FROG), so I guess that has something to do with it. Just downloaded LimeWire in its place :notsure:
Lunch was fun ’cause I met the people from the Fairfax picnic that I hadn’t seen yet … just tried to hang out with them but they weren’t in their rooms. Also met this guy from Arlington (who went to Yorktown) and another FROG — they were pretty nice. And the people on my floor have basically already made their own little groups. Yeah I’ll go eat with Maureen and all them, but they definitely prefer her over me. But oh well. Also met some cool people at the reading discussion, but dunno where they are. I also hope to meet some people at the DJ thing tonight if it’s any good. If not, I’ll either go to the concert at Taylor or sleep.
