Okay, the concert was weird. At least Concrete Blonde was … as well as the first artist, Corey Harris, who was a mix of reggae and soul … kinda like Jimi Hendrix/Santana/Lenny Kravitz I guess. They had like one good song, but then Shaune was like, umm wanna get something to eat? I agreed lol.
I forget who the second group was, but they were pretty awesome, and played music that reminded me exactly of Jason LeVasseur
Now the third group, Graham Colton, was my favorite. The lead singer could be the clone of the lead guy from the Goo Goo Dolls, and they were so nice! They kept thanking us for coming out to support new music ’cause a lot of cities don’t do that. So yay. I wanted to get a CD or t-shirt, but didn’t wanna break my $100 bill, haha … and also knew I’d lose my place in the front if I went. But oh well, they’ll probably come here again soon. And the 4th group, Concrete Blonde … man … I just gotta say that they were very different. The lead singer and guitarist wore matching outfits on purpose, the guitarist was old, and the lead singer was about 25. I was like umm what? The drummer guy was awesome, though — most of their songs had a strong bass part, which he performed nicely, hehe.
Then omg, during this one song, they had pre-recorded music playing while this freaky old mime guy came out onstage while the girl sang this slow goth song. I swear, I would totally not be expecting this type of show if I’d heard their music beforehand … ’cause don’t get me wrong, their songs were awesome — I just didn’t really like their live appearance. Plus, we had somehow managed to find a spot right next to the speakers, so towards the end my left ear started hurting on and off and I could barely hear anything for like 5 minutes once it was over. It kinda sucked, but oh well. At least I know for future reference that the speakers are not my friend
Anyway, after the concert, we do our usual walk to Soho for coffee, but instead of taking the metro back to Courthouse … we decide to walk. From Dupont Circle. Which isn’t exactly an around-the-block deal … but it was still cool to look at houses on the way, and then we met up with Ying and Shaun (the guy) after crossing Key Bridge. And I didn’t get tired! But that was probably from the coffee and part of Shaune’s cinnamon bun I had lol.
Oh yeah, and guess what? Shaune’s having another condo party in two weeks! Yay! Hehe, it’s gonna be awesome (and hopefully Brian can come) … I just gotta think of something new to tell my dad, ’cause if he found out … man. I’d be dead.
Well, gonna go get ready to do something productive today … so adios! Hopefully that will include seeing Brian.
